Wailea Watersports

“I recently went on a tour with Wailea Watersports during whale season. The kayak guide, Kayak Chris, is the most personable and experienced guide on Maui. Chris is also the only guide permitted to leave from Polo Beach so you can avoid the large groups that leave from Makena Landing so early in the morning. His tour doesn’t begin so early either, we met at Polo Beach parking lot at 8:15a.m. and paddled out to see whales. It wasn’t long before a baby with Mother and Escort popped up really close where Chris predictedthey would! The baby came up to breath often; Chris said they can’t hold their breath as long as the adults so that was a great experience to have several looks at the big baby!
Then he took us to his secret turtle site and he said we would see turtles so close we could kiss them, but not to because they are protected and we are not allow to touch them. He said we would have a Honu experience, as he took underwater photos of huge green sea turtles swimming right along side. I highly recommend this trip, he let us paddle or snorkel as long as we wanted. It is more like a private tour with the small group and all the attention you get from a really fun and safe tour guide.” Aloha,
